А сколько в этом мире проблем: войны, землетрясения, политики, засухи, ураганы, наводнения политики...//- Вы их уже называли.// - Знаю, просто они в два раза хуже всего остального. (с)
Each and every revolution, wherever it happens: on 19th century's streets of Paris, on the stone-paving of Dvortsovaya square in St. Petersburg or in the vast expenses of Latin America of the wars-for-independence-period, is to give birth to its own heroes: the men who are to be recalled as having stood at the origins of a revolution, who turned into its inherit symbol. And present day "revolutionaries" of every stripe often understand this too well.
Dmitro Yarosh is one of the most controversial politicians of the present day Ukraine. And, no doubt, one of those whose name will always come in mind when talking about coup d'état of 2014 in Ukraine.
The first deputy head of right-wing Stepan Bandera Tryzub organization, Dmitro Yarosh in fact is a leader of the whole Right Sector, neofascist entity involving a number of far right nationalist groups. He didn't hesitate to take the responsibility for the revolution that hammered the country. No wonder he did - during the whole life this man had a dream to make one.
That's a rare chance - to achieve a dream. So rare that few can think at this moment of glory what impact their "great accomplishments" would have on average people. That's where the difference between an elected or appointed politician and a radical populist lies. The first takes responsibility for his actions to the people, who can dismiss him in case if he failed, the second takes responsibility to no one. And now there is a situation: even the law-enforcement bodies of Ukraine cannot call Dmitro Yarosh to account - so much power and influence is now in the hands of far right nationalists there.
Observing the play that unfolds in Kiev during last month what comes in mind is the Germany of 1930th - thugs wearing military-like uniform marching around the city, nationalist slogans like "Ukraine for Ukrainians" and assignment of the responsibility for the one's nation's problems on some enemy from the outside. Even the symbols of the Right Sector resemble much ones of the 3rd Reich.
In fact, the image of an enemy from the outside is crucial for nazi-type movements of all times. What can those movements do with the discontent inside the country when their political ambitions usually don't go beyond overthrowing the government and "establishing order" in their own understanding of it? The easiest way is to redirect it to someone else. Currently, Ukraine is still on the stage of establishing order: in the name of revolution the right-wing militants forcefully enter the sessions of local authorities, claim from the representatives of Party of Regions to vacate their seats in the Parliament, promise to hang by the legs the Minister of Internal Affairs who used to dare to criticize them.
And Yarosh, who previously stated being beyond the politics now wants to be the state's President.
Meanwhile, the image of the enemy from the outside has already formed quite well. If not, for what reason the militants being recruited by the Right Sector as defiantly as right around the streets cry out: "Kill the Russians"?
That is not by accident. Dmitro Yarosh from the very outset of his "career" in various nationalist movements has set the fight with Russia as the supreme goal. The slightest mentioning of the possibility of economic cooperation with Russia was making him vomit from the rostrum of Maidan.
Yarosh considers Russia being the ancient foe of Ukraine and is deeply convinced by the fact that the war between two nations is inevitable, calling Russia the "imperial monster", believing that Russia should be fully eliminated and that "separate state-nations should be established on its territory". He expresses confidence in the future defeat of the "Satanic Moscow" and "the collapse of the Empire".
When fighting with this enemy Yarosh is ready to stick to a well-known principle of Niccolò Machiavelli: the end for him fully justifies the means. And one of the means of his fight with Russia is indeed the support of the Ukrainian association with the EU, and so is the reason for tolerating the aid from Europe and the USA being accepted by the current Ukrainian government. However, at the same time Yarosh doesn't hesitate to ask for help the leader of Chechen terrorists and (who knows the men's thoughts) may be somebody much more dangerous will follow.
And once again, nobody is to know where the situation in Ukraine goes - the country is split on two by the nationality issue and the leaflets "here lives a Russian" started to appear on the doors of Russian population. The latter equally became an enemy for Yarosh. Why? Simply because according to the methodology of Bandera, practicing by Yarosh every national group denying "the right of the Ukrainian nation to be the master of its fate on its land" is an enemy, and Russians with all their demonstrations supposedly do so.
As for the Russian Federation, it set a ground for the Yarosh's future aspirations when tried to provide security for the Crimean population, doesn't matter that Crimea's situation is different from the Ruhr of 1930th, you know the story.
So far taking into account the popularity obtained by Right Sector when supporting the Euromaidan, nobody can guarantee their leader won't be elected as a President on the upcoming elections in Ukraine. What actions should be awaited from a men in power, for whom the motto "only the arms, only the fight" has become the sense of life? Though this man has a military rank as low (so ironical history) as a gefreiter.
And what kind of Ukraine Europe will finally get then?
